New Season, Under Way!!

We began season 2 nine weeks ago and have been going strong ever since. We’ve had a fantastic time on both the shows and the challenges; challenges that range from training for MMA and learning sexiness with Burlesquesexercise. This Sunday will be challenge #3 where we will play the painfully exhausting soccer, or if your in the rest of the world Futbol. One of my favorite quotes comes to mind, “Mass Genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in… next to soccer.” I wholeheartedly agree and will be, as they say in England, knackered by the end of the game. So come out and see me fall to the ground and not get up.

October Update

If you are going to come see one of the two remaining shows in this run, buy your tickets early through The Institution Theater’s website.  We have sold out 3 of our 4 shows.

In the last two months, our players have trained with an MMA fighter, produced political attack ads, walked a Gazelle to the top of Mount Bonnell, Filmed individual PSAs in the “It Gets Fatter” campaign, skated with the Texas Rollergirls, and had one team choose to get colonic cleansing.  It has been a heck of a first two months.  Make sure to check out the videos on the videos page.

More importantly, we have lost a combined total of over 160 pounds.  Each of those pounds was hard-earned.  Our teams have counted every calorie and committed to amazing exercise routines.  We are making healthy choices and being rewarded for it in lost weight and inches.

This process isn’t just about the scale.  It is about training ourselves to make the healthy choices every day (well, almost every day).  It is about un-learning the habits that got us into the conditions that we now face.  It is about learning how to take care of ourselves (like we should have been doing from the beginning.

Our audiences have been incredibly supportive.  We could not ask for a stronger sense of community.

We hope you enjoy the shows as much as we enjoy having the opportunity to make these shows happen.

We are thankful for your support and involvement.  Thanks for joining the moovement.

Success on Every Level

Last night’s premire of Thinning the Herd was an amazingly successful night.  We played to a nearly sold-out house.  They propelled us into some amazingly fun scenes!  The first of our videos got laughs where we were expecting them.  Most importantly, the teams lost a combined 67 pounds over the last two weeks!

And the good news?  Nowhere but up to go from here.

Next Sunday, September 23, you should join us for a walk around Lady Bird Lake.  Some members of the cast are meeting at the statue of Stevie Ray Vaughn at 7 and going on a brief walk.  We will meet at the statue of Stevie Ray Vaughn and walk approximately three miles. No need for any special equipment, just wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes, weather appropriate clothes, and bring along some water. Participants are strongly encouraged to wear clothes that are cow themed so we can be sure that you are there as part of the Herd. That is no bull.

The teams are also chomping at the bit to produce their first Video Challenge pieces.  Guru Larry St.Clair has been generous enough to donate a MMA style workout for Fattitude.  Los Tigres de Muerte and Mo’ Tummy Mo’ Problems will be creating attack ads outlining why the other teams will fail.  Come out to the show on September 30 at 6 to check these out.

The cast is, of course, competing for a grand prize: The Golden Refrigerator.  The fridge is stocked with fabulous prizes that we will reveal over the course of the coming weeks.  Visit this website for more information.
